CONNOTATIVE POSTER
MAY 2022
This was a project I completed for my design communication class. After completing our two rounds of denotative poster making, we moved onto connotative posters. The goal for this project was to use the content of the text to influence design choices and make a poster that conveyed the central themes of our artist statement by just looking at it, rather than by reading the text itself.

I had a couple of ideas of things I wanted to try when making this poster. The first couple screen grabs show what I call my "sketching phase." Once I decided on which idea to go with, I began to add the body text.

After presenting my round one poster to my peers, most of the feedback I received was that the poster felt separate and that I should play around with overlap and filling in the white space--so I did just that for round two.
